Ennead Architects is an award winning New York City design studio that is internationally recognized for powerful building designs for cultural, educational, scientific and governmental institutions. Ennead’s research-based design process sponsors the creation of signature building designs that express an institution’s unique philosophy and vision.
In June 2010, Polshek Partnership’s nine partners created Ennead Architects LLP from the legacy of their past. This event culminated a gradual and continuous transition in leadership from the studio’s identification with a single design leader to an alliance of partners. Since its founding as a sole proprietorship in 1963 as James Stewart Polshek Architect, the firm has modified its name, each instance reflecting and formalizing broadened leadership. With Joseph Fleischer’s partnership in 1980, James Stewart Polshek and Partners was created and saw the addition of Timothy Hartung as partner in 1987. Duncan Hazard, Richard Olcott, Susan Rodriguez and Todd Schliemann, all of whom, with Timothy Hartung, had joined the firm during a period of growth from the late 1970s until the mid 1980s, became partners in 1998. At that time the firm became Polshek Partnership LLP. In December 2005, James Polshek retired from the partnership and became Design Counsel, and in 2006, Kevin McClurkan, Tomas Rossant and Don Weinreich became partners.
