Ennead Partner Thomas J. Wong AIA recently presented “Development of a World-Class Museum based on a Deep-Time Perspective," a case study on the Jean and Ric Edelman Fossil Park & Museum of Rowan University at the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums (MAAM) event Building Museums 2024, a national symposium on museum capital building projects. He is joined by Dr. Kenneth J. Lacovara, Founding Executive Director of Edelman Fossil Park & Museum, Andrew Sniderman of KSS Architects, and Michael G. Lewis of G&A.
The panelists discuss the landmark project, opening this year, which will comprise a museum, research center, and nature park sited around a quarry that contains evidence of the fifth mass extinction of the dinosaurs, approximately 66 million years ago. The net zero project incorporates site-specific, experience-driven design. Thomas Wong shares design strategies that maximize the museum experience and reduce environmental impact and explains how placemaking, experiential design, and building performance can support institutional mission.
