Shanghai Astronomy Museum is included in Architectural Digest’s new “Works of Wonder” List, which recognizes twenty groundbreaking projects of the year. An excerpt from the 2022 Works of Wonder: Shanghai Astronomy Museum write up:
Ennead Architects made its indelible mark on the world of astronomy two decades ago, dramatically setting a solid white planetarium sphere within a glowing glass cube at New York’s Museum of Natural History. Now come the torquing curves and complex layers of the firm’s 420,000-square-foot Shanghai Astronomy Museum, the world’s largest museum devoted to astronomy. Ennead partner Thomas J. Wong conceived the building’s silvery arches and ribbon-like elements to recall the paths of celestial bodies in the sky.
