Ennead Partner Richard Olcott wrote an article for Retrofit Magazine discussing the transformation of the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg Center as an example of how existing architecture can be re-invented to serve modern communities and support brand identity.

The Hopkins Bloomberg Center is the result of Ennead's collaboration with Rockwell Group and SmithGroup to re-invent a purpose-built museum. The outcome is a flexible and innovative academic building that convenes and strengthens Johns Hopkins University’s expertise, research, and presence in the nation's capital.

Addressing the possibilities of adaptive reuse, Richard wites "The transformation of 555 Pennsylvania Avenue is more than just a renovation; it’s a story of adaptive—if not radical—reuse that honors the past while embracing the future. By reimagining the interior and exterior, the team created a dynamic, state-of-the-art learning environment that enriches Washington, D.C.’s urban fabric while enhancing JHU’s expertise, research and presence in the nation’s capital."
