East Harlem Tutorial Program High School

EHTP is dedicated to serving the community by hosting cultural and neighborhood events. To create a genuine community hub, the design includes spaces that feel inclusive and welcoming to students, faculty, and community members. The building's transparent design offers views both inside and outside, reinforcing its connection to the surrounding community and inviting engagement from all.

Ennead aims to create an environment that reflects the spirit of the community and uplifts East Harlem Tutorial Program’s mission of providing a distinct, higher-education atmosphere for its students. By engaging with families, students, and community members, we ensured that their voices were heard, resulting in a school that allows students to dream big, feel confident, and continue their educational journey. As the first new public high school opening in this community in over 60 years, we hope this serves as a model for future public schools throughout the city for years to come.

EHTP offers a state-of-the-art facility designed to immerse students in a collegiate environment, easing their transition into higher education. The architecture features diverse break-out and small group study areas, fostering collaborative learning. At the heart of the building lies the College Access Center, a welcoming suite where students can explore educational opportunities and receive college counseling. This new building equips the high school with versatile spaces that support a dynamic academic schedule, ensuring students are well-prepared for their future academic pursuits.

We are honored to partner with East Harlem Tutorial Program to expand their successful educational model to a newly designed location that will propel the future generation to success. Ennead’s design approach to K-12 institutions focuses on creating dynamic spaces that engender collaborative learning, support a range of teaching modalities, and facilitate intellectual curiosity and flexibility that improve the student outcomes, making it easy to integrate our expertise with EHTP’s similar mission.

The Scholars Academy High School features specialized classrooms for art and music, as well as fully equipped biology, chemistry, and physics labs. The lower levels of the building house shared spaces, including a gymnasium, a black box theater, and a cafeteria. These adaptable spaces support EHTP’s diverse after-school programs and serve as venues for community events, providing flexibility to accommodate various schedules and activities.
