For many scientists, professional life entails months of fieldwork in remote locations around the world coupled with dedicated research in the laboratory. Comprehending these radically different environments became inspiration for creating a new paradigm for a laboratory that would link these extremes and minimize their contrasts.
这栋独立式建筑选址于北部花园边缘——使得新的实验室造就了通往后方景观的大门。
整个建筑的设计形式旨在鼓励园内科学家、研究生及博士后研究人员间的交流互动：因地适宜的实验舱、连同用于教学及其他各类聚会的会议设施及会议区，无不都将周遭园林湖泊美景一览眸下。
而覆盖整个实验室的落地玻璃幕墙则在感官上模糊了室内外界限，并从而扩大了整个实验室的视觉面积。
实验室亦配备用于各类复杂研究的相关设施，如DNA分子测序和比较基因组研究。
